Now is the time to advance a conservative climate solution that protects our natural environment and positions our manufacturers to lead the world as it transitions to clean energy.
It’s a matter of when, not if, America adopts a federal climate policy. As a pro-business state, Indiana can play a decisive role in advancing a solution that reduces climate and competitive risks to our businesses and communities while affirming Hoosier values and the conservative principles of free markets and limited government.
The Baker-Shultz Carbon Dividends Plan is the only climate solution that has earned support from Republicans, the business community, senior statesmen and economists while still gaining the approval of environmentalists.
We at Hoosiers for Carbon Dividends support the Baker-Shultz Plan because it would cut U.S. carbon emissions in half by 2035, reward innovation, grow Indiana’s working economy and hold major foreign polluters accountable for their emissions. It’s the right solution, at the right time, with the right advantages for our manufacturers and the American people.
We believe Republicans must embrace a meaningful climate solution to ensure our environmental policies are effective and position Indiana manufacturers to compete with China and others on a fair playing field. With the right conservative approach, we can address climate, uphold Hoosier values and strengthen the Indiana economy.
With this in mind, we are committed to educating the public on the Baker-Shultz Plan and promoting the notion that Indiana can be a leader on climate in the United States. Ultimately, we hope to persuade our federal elected officials to champion this commonsense, conservative solution and guide it to passage in Congress.
